At 38 years old Dallas Cowboys back-up quarterback Jon Kitna is not really expected to play huge minutes in the twilight of his career.
However with the recent injury suffered by Cowboys superstar quarterback Tony Romo, a huge task now await Kitna as takes the role as the leader of his team.
Romo recently suffered a left collarbone injury that will sideline him from six to eight weeks.
The Cowboys superstar quarterback suffered the injury in the team’s recent loss to the New York Giants at home 35-41.
The loss dropped the the Cowboys to a 1-5 win-loss record which put them in danger of losing the chance to compete in the NFL playoffs and even the Super Bowl this year.
To avoid the chance to miss the 2010 NFL playoffs, Kitna is now challenged to play harder and go beyond his age to propel the Cowboys to victory.
While the Cowboys are in danger of losing their chance to compete in the NFL postseason, it is the other-way around for the Giants.
The Giants who hiked their record to 5-2 is now moving closer to the opportunity to play in the NFL playoffs.
In their game, Giants superstar quarterback Eli was simply awesome as he  spearhead the Giants from a 13-point deficit to a 41-35 victory that put the Giants a full game ahead of the NFC East and tied for the most wins in the conference.
Manning led the Giants on five straight scoring drives over the middle two quarters, posting 31 points.
If the Giants can continue their winning season there is no way they could not get an NFL playoff slot and compete for the Super Bowl this year.
All the Giants have to do is to continue to play hard and with a purpose and avoid complacency to avoid upsets and defeats.

The winning momentum of the Chicago Bears face an ultimate test when the team visit the New Meadowlands Stadium on October 3 to face the dangerous New York Giants.
Lead by rising NFL quarterback Jay Cutler the Bears have a strong start in the 2010 NFL season as they sport an impressive 3-0 record.
Compared to his performance the past year, Cutler had a banner season this year as he he threw for 870 yards – fifth-most in the NFL with six touchdowns and two interceptions under first-year offensive coordinator Mike Martz.
Having an immaculate record, the Bears is picked to win its game against the Giants, who are having difficulty in the current NFL season with their 1-2 win loss record.
The Bears are winning this year  due to their impressive offence and defence wherein newly acquired defensive end Julius Peppers is having a great performance for his new team.
If the Bears are smiling it is the otherway around for the Giants, who are having difficulty this year due to the many errors they commit come game-time.
In the Bears-Giants match-up, the visiting team is favored to win since in the  match-up history of the two respected NFL teams the Giants also lost their last five regular-season home meetings against the Bears since a 28-24 victory in 1969.
Facing the odds as the underdog, the Giants lead by coach Tom Coughlin could still pull an upset if they could limit their mistakes and employ tough defense against the Bears.
Giants star quarterback Eli Manning also needs to have an A-game to bring victory to his team against the Bears.
